What wonderful commentary on the plight of the noble and proud Palestinian "survivors" of the Holocaust by the Zionist misanthropes of Israel, who still cry the blues about being detained by the Nazis and for some, ethnic cleansing, which is wrong, anywhere on this planet, but now they've taken the place of the so-called "master race." in their calculated and "blessed by the West" in carrying out the extermination of the rightful and indigenous people of Palestine.

You and other honest journalists are few and far between, Cara, and I and others admire your courage and concern for plight of the Palestinian people.

Money talks and the Jewish people (not all of them, of course) have deep pockets to pay the politicians and media off for controlling the narrative. We have heard for so many years, that "Israel has a right to exist" but NEVER does Palestine have a right to exist.? I met a middle-aged Palestinian couple, about ten years ago near the Port of Oakland, California, as we were boycotting a cargo ship from Israel, which the Longshoreman refused to unload, and I don't remember, but it sailed either down to the Port of Los Angeles or up to Seattle, Wash or who knows where? The couple explained the difficulties living under Zionist rule in their own country, with approximately 66 checkpoints that they to go through, and the harassment (and worse) by Israeli soldiers. I almost cried listening to them/

Like others, looking forward in reading your stories or I should say, unbiased reporting from Palestine.

THANKS!

Bravo Cara, thank you for the photos. I too weep and sometimes cannot breathe for Palestine. It looks as if some of the young are rising up on the campuses and the new Biden Reich is having trouble crushing them beneath its jack boots.

Here's something hopeful I wrote twenty years ago in 2004.

AMERICA. Why Cannot The Good Prevail?

-

Why cannot the good prevail?

Here in America there is at heart

A people, just and true,

Open, sometimes to the point of ridicule.

Good neighbors to rebuild the barn

The doctor’s note of western legend

Carried forth beyond the grave

I knew your Pa, enough.

-

In caucuses across the land

Deliberate they’ll always stand

Defenders of the Rosenburgs.

Symbolic of that inner yearning

To be better than before.

They never will give up their brother

To the grocers cold machine

Belt welts livid from the strong arm of the law.

-

On campuses, in boardrooms, over giving thanks and pumpkin pie,

On hustings, in committee rooms,

Whenever tyrants loomed,

We always held in our esteem

The ones who hold on to the dream,

Unflinching while the bullies

Pose and fiddle on the hill.

-

Has commerce so reduced the free,

That, blinded like a tot, contaminated by the dog shit in the grass,

We blunder, slaves to humbug and this Texan dynasty.

No!

Beyond the grip of trade

The young strain beautiful and proud,

The hoar frost breath of new blood

Needs but nudges from

The old forgotten guard

To scale the moral high grounds in the cloud.

Love

R.

The idea of creating a racist, criminal ethnostate, the foundation of which is the mass murder of the indigenous Arab population and theft of their land and resources, located smack dab in the middle of states which are also populated by Arabs, is one of the worst ideas conceived in the history of man. The fact that the ethnostate of Israel was created due to the undemocratic and wrongful pressure on the United Nations exerted by the West is one of the greatest crimes against humanity ever committed in the history of man. No, Israel does not deserve to exist. What should exist is Palestine, a country in which all its inhabitants, Jewish, Arab, Christian, or otherwise, are treated equally under the law. The racist state of Israel should cease to exist.

The answer to the question, while i agree with you i’d add to “No” - not in its current state or system. I don’t think it’s possible to erase the fact that millions of Israelis live there and however much we can see and say that it’s a racist endeavour and an apartheid, settler colonial state, they still exist and like the white South Africans they probably aren’t going anywhere. Moving forward the aim has to be a similar trajectory to South Africa exiting apartheid. It - Israel - will still be there, but not in its current form. That must be non-negotiable.

But precisely right. Thanks for your comment.

What is so utterly stunning and maddening beyond expression

to me is that the West is complicit. It's the US/Israel war against the Palestinians and Europe is following America's lead. The West cannot continue to function in its current state either. Impossible.

Yes others “Did it too” … and they eventually changed they society, laws and regulations and instituted equality for all under the law and one person one vote. They ceased to exist in that form, but remained in the place under a different system.

It’s hilarious how often I get Israel apologists in my comments going “How can you only oppose Israel but not - fill in blank with a colonial settler project - after what they did to the - fill in blank with relevant victims - people??”

It’s hilarious because of how fast these freaks will drop their “Jews are indigenous to Israel” schtick and accidentally admit that it’s just another genocidal western settler-colonialist project the millisecond they think they can score a few internet points by doing so.

Your comments are pure bile. Readers of The Floutist are thoughtful people engaged in genuine dialogue. Disagreement is expected and encouraged. Incoherent, spiteful rants are not.

You and Patrick are doing, alone, what powerful combines and networks have neither the courage nor integrity to do: exploring the reality of the Palestinians of the West Bank. In doing so, you put yourselves on the unstated enemies list of not only American journalism, which no longer exists in any honest sense, but also of a sick and dying government that knows no better way to suppress the truth it frantically denies but to punish any person of integrity who has any platform. It has condemned Julian Assange to slow death for doing exactly what you and Patrick are doing: finding the truth and expressing it openly. I commend you courage, but I fear for your lives. The Empire has many ways to destroy people without, as the CIA says, "terminating with extreme prejudice".

At the very least, the State of Israel no longer has the right to ask the United States or the United Nations for support in its treatment of the Palestinians or for any additional international support for the Zionist project initiated in 1948. When the UN voted to support the establishment of Israel, that support was conditioned on the Israel cooperating to assure the Palestinians a state of their own next to Israel. It is now clear that Israel never intended to permit that and so has, by its own actions, continual violation and disregard for international law, forfeited before the world its right to exist in its current (Zionist) form as a tolerated member of the community of nations. Jews of course have an inalienable and right to exist as do all human beings, including Palestinians, but Israel as a state has no more "right to exist" than it did before the United Nations voted to give it statehood in 1948.

The very concept of Israel is an abomination, a stain on the world map and a stain on humanity. After all the horrors that we have witnessed over the past 8 months, how any human being can justify its existence is beyond the realm of sanity.

Thank you for visiting, thank you for your humanity, and mostly thank you for your courage.

The question shouldn't be about Israel's right to exist, rather Israel's right and obligation to live within it's legal-internationally recognized borders. Normally not too much to ask.

I've come to believe that the core problem is the very existence of militant-political Colonial Zionism as an ideology. Any sanctions or accountability for myriad atrocities deriving from the standup of Colonial Zionism's Israeli platform are mere treatment of the symptoms of Colonial Zionism's malevolence. The goal must be repudiation and termination of Colonial Zionism! Once that is accomplished, the symptoms of the discredited, metastasized disease -- the blight on humanity -- can be and must be systematically and rigorously exposed to the blinding light of day, treated and cured (if "cure" in this case is even possible).

Methinks the US and the rest of the West are so inextricably compromised, so soiled by Colonial Zionism, that China, Russia, BRICS and the Global South/New World Order must needs step up and be the locus of a return to any semblance of sanity, law, and morality.

Many thanks to Ms. Marianna! and to Ambassador Freeman.

Viva Palestine!--Hamas and ALL of Palestine!

I couldn't get through this story without crying. The cruelty inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israel and my own country is unforgivable. It was humbling to read of the kindness many of these people showed to Cara, an American. The Israel lobby has bought politicians from both parties. The only way to change course is for people in this country to wake up. The anti-Palestinian propaganda out there has been very effective I am heartened that there has been a shift in public opinion thanks to the student protests. I wish we could have a massive 3rd party protest vote in the coming elections and clean house. I can dream can't I?

A female human I know traveled from Cairo to Jerusalem by public bus.

Said the Arabs were unfailingly polite and friendly. Israelis were, almost to a man, woman and child, arrogant assholes.

You can train any group of humans to be arrogant assholes. Just give them unearned privileges and no responsibilities, and like a field ripe for harvest, you'll get a crop of assholes.

If we are to judge, then let us judge all in the same manner. Therefore no people who have committed atrocities against another people, in a effort to exist, co-exist, remain, conquer and establish themselves deserves to be a nation. The Israeli occupation of then what was a British Mandate was and continues its brutality. The British Empire had its own scourge of brutality, the US American genocide of the numerous indigenous tribes was more extensive than Israels plan occurring now. If we are to look at anyone, let us first look at ourselves and attempt to shed light on the violence perpetuated in our homes. So, does Great Britain and the US deserve to exist? The answer is, they do exist and nothing in the past can be changed and nothing but desires for the future are available. Right here, right now, the best contribution any human can do, is to know thyself. When we know our true nature, the whole world changes around us.

You need to round up a good photographer to add good pictures of the people. I realize some may not want to reveal their faces but that's a story in itself.
