Will Albanese back Assange? No. The tyrant PM (and he is exactly that, getting himself sworn in when only about 20% of the vote had been counted!) will do no such thing. He cares not for this country. The more I read about what Federal Labor is doing, the more they sound like what the Liberals were when I was growing up!
I have known for some years now that my passport will not have the Australian govt coming to my aid in a time of need, wherever I may be in the world - and especially not if I have spoken out against them, tyrants or not. They are not interested in saving us individually when they perceive us as mere chattel. Based on this, there seems to be bugger all hope for Assange! :-(
Assange has been persecuted for so long. It is wrong. So very wrong. The poor man is a political scapegoat now.
Prayers for Julian as he sits alone in that cell. Prayers for his family also. May God spare me the galling bitterness that rose in my belly as I read because I know that it comes from Satan its self.
May the light of God continue to guide our Nation through these dark days.
Thank you P.L. for publishing the Great John Pilger's article on Truth Teller and journalist, Julian Assange.
I was hoping Julian would have gone to Russia for political asylum, like Edward Snowden did, as the government over there would have protected him from the Anglo-Zionist Imperialist scum of the earth who try and silence anyone who uncovers their nefarious deeds and exposes their crimes against humanity in the hope the people of the world would unite against the subtle, well-planned and calculated agenda of the Empire of Chaos (as some call it) and revolt against the increasing tyranny and mind-control of the Empire.
Merry ol' England isn't merry anymore, and shame on the Aussie government for not protecting Julian for the injustice and cruel treatment by the war-mongering fascist British government, and the way they kidnapped Julian, in violation of International Law, from the Embassy.
And now, the US, the UK, and Australia are going to build a big submarine base "Down Under!"
Does anyone really think they'll release Julian to report on things like this? I have been weeping inside for Julian, ever since, and pray in the affirmative that Higher Forces will free him from the illegal persecution of the Empire.
Thank you Mr. Pilger. You've been a hero of mine for many years!
Thank you for a thoughtful and germane comment❗ There seems to be a growing paucity of on-topic commentary mysteriously emanating disguised as topical discourse⁉
You are most certainly welcome, Green Mountain Boy! Hey, I'm not George Carlin (my favorite) but if I can get a chuckle from my corny sense of humor....I'm happy. And I thank you for your understanding in what I said. Too many of our fellow citizens still can't connect the dots.
I wrote in Assange/Manning in 2020 and am trying to promote an Assange for President campaign in 2024. Think of the slogans;
He looked the Beast in the eye and didn't blink.
They can drink the hemlock, get nailed to the cross, burned at the stake, shot, thrown in jail for life, but history doesn't forget the ones that are right.
Think of the bumper stickers and tee shirts all over the country, as the parties try running the usual stooges.
Dave, the Dronebama's birthplace is questionable, concerning POTUS qualifications. On whether the law was changed, I don't remember reading anything about it, but if a pro-war, pro-Wall Street, pro MIC foreign-born candidate runs for the number one spot in D. C., the Repulsive and DemoRAT parties may vote on a new provision, as in an Emergency."
Two of the nastiest, pro-war foreign-born Department Secretaries of the Federal Government were Z. Brezinski, and H. Kissinger who is still ticking.
If you are going to nitpick about legal niceties, how about an independent ticket of Rand Paul and Tulsi Gabbard?
My argument is to make Assange a poke in their eye. They want to use him as an example, so make him a martyr. Looking at the degree to which the shit seems to be hitting the fan, the narrative has to be turned. Who better as the hero? It's not like Tucker Carlson has been in prison for the last several years.
Who's nitpicking about legal niceties? They're "gone with the wind" in the 21st century, at least here in the US. I tried answering Dave's question.
I'll take Tulsi Gabbard, as she at least had the courage to leave the DemoRAT Party, but Rand Paul, from the Repulsive Party, would not be my choice for an independent ticket. I'd prefer Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Jill Stein or Howie Hawkins (Greens), all four whom I proudly voted for POTUS.I'd vote for Jesse Ventura too, if he was on the slate.
Julian Assange is already a martyr to those of us who keep up with current events (which matter) and geopolitics. The R's & the D's are morally bankrupt and could care less about the shit hitting the fan. Money and Power are their two priorities.
Tucker Carlson is another fraudulent right-winger, but I will admit, gets it right once in awhile. But on Julian, too many of our fellow citizens think he's some sort of traitor.
I have had my share of arguments defending him and castigating those who think he belongs in prison for exposing outright murder, etc. etc.
I grew up on a farm. To culture, good and bad are some cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, while to nature, it's the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience. Not only lots of grey between the black and white, but all the colors of the spectrum between light and dark.
I try to be as objective as possible and not get too sucked into the various partisan rabbit holes. So the reason I would go for Paul, isn't because I'm a libertarian, but because he probably knows where more of the bodies are buried than any of the others and is antagonistic toward most of them. Look how Trump got rolled by the neocons. I want a real monkey wrench to throw in the machine, not just more mush.
I'm in agreement with your first paragraph and you choose the words and meanings well.
On the second... I'm not holding my breath for the knight in shinning armor to save us from the perilous course the "one party system "(the property party, to quote Professor Ferdinand Lundberg of Columbia University in his partially dated masterpiece, "The Rich and the Super-Rich" published in 1968, is in power. We're all frustrated in the direction our nation is heading.
If I don't reply later, I'll check out the article in the morning. Have a good evening!
This is all great, but I would prefer for this take place on earth, during our lives, where we can all see it, with empirical evidence that it actually took place. Why does this god not just make sure it doesn’t happen in the first place, rather than making us suffer here and then ‘fix things’ in an abstract afterlife no one has any proof of and that at least 7 billion people are wrong about, if all religions are mutually exclusive.
Julian Assange is an Australian citizen who has been long targeted by USA and Sweden to shut down his writing activities He was informing other countries of stories that were becoming embarrassing to America and was set up through a Swedish plan Everyone would like to know what news America wanted doused but were not given the chance to find out Imprisonment and trial in America not needed for an Australian citizen denied by his own country Sanctuary given in another country but at what cost for him and his supporters Speak up Australia for our own citizen and if necessary treat him in court here
It’s very sad when the evidence is clear that Australia is a puppet Nation for the Powerful of the world and we do nothing.
The Assange story is clearly unacceptable but where are the protests on the door steps of Canberra to let all politicians know that they have let us down!
We seem to have accepted these injustices and allowed the perpetrators a “free” ride.
Great lecture - I should say "sermon" - by Jeffrey Sachs, and I'm definitely in agreement. On the word "sermon," what Sachs said in the interview should be the present day "gospel" for all religious leaders on Planet Earth!
"Nobody should be against anybody" which Jeff said toward the end of the speech. Yes indeed!
Xi Jinping's mantra is "Cooperation, Not Confrontation" (my words, not his, which is what he has been telling people around the world)
I would NOT trust that ribald leftist John Pilger as far as I could throw him! He makes some valid points, but he has always but always down through the decades had a love affair with the mass-murdering and genocidal Chinese Communist Party. In his eyes, they can do no wrong! The Uighur genocide, the forced human organ harvesting of Falun Gong, the Tiananmen Square massacre, the 50 million starved to death from the Great Leap "Backwards" in 1958-1961, the horrors of the 1966-76 Cultural Revolution. Moreover:
"According to the final report released on March 1, 2020 by the UK based China Tribunal, chaired by UK Queen’s Counsel (QC) Sir Geoffrey Nice: “Hospitals in the PRC have had access to a population of donors whose organs could be extracted according to demand for them"
See Page 150 of The China Tribunal Judgment released on March 1, 2020,

And I almost forgot to mention...released the scourge of the Wuhan virus upon the world!
Pilger I imagine would accuse me of racism...but that would be a very shallow argument. For one thing, I have a Taiwanese wife who knows only too well the evils of the CCP. Moreover, if one calls out the crimes of National Socialism, does that make one racist towards Germans??
Ohhh...and did not the transhumanist Klaus Schwab, head of the World Economic Forum say something like:
"China is the model for the whole world to follow."
And finally, the following from the last paragraph on page 2 to page 3 from an excerpt taken my book is of more than just passing relevance:
I beg to differ about your assertive remarks on John Pilger.
If you think the CCP is bad, and yes, they did some bad things back in the day, but so did many other nations on this planet.
The late Professor of History, William Blum, chronicled just about every war the U.S. had started since 1945, AFTER WW2, countries invaded and occupied by Uncle Sam, democratically elected heads of state of sovereign nations who wouldn't comply to the whims of American corporations and the international bankers, assassinated or deposed , and so on and so forth.
The list of American atrocities committed by the US is quite long. In all due respect, let's be fair.
I stand pat on John Pilger. He has courage and integrity
Its a miracle that he is still alive! The apostle Peter was let out of gaol by an angel (Acts 12:7) and Paul walked out of prison because of an earthquake (Acts 16:26)! Lets all pray for God to do a similar miracle and the Spirit of the Lord catches him away to Australia (destination secret)!
I can't help but feel that Assange's extradition has been deliberately delayed and that both he and Trump are playing their roles in a theatrical production. The apparent injustices committed against both men and the polarised opinions of people towards both of them make me feel like we're not simply in a Truman show but that we're being evaluated on how we judge these two underdogs. The question is: are they both willing participants? And if so, what reward awaits them for their immense sacrifices?
When one scratches just below the surface neither man's situation makes sense. How could the US have jurisdiction over an Australian citizen? And why didn't Trump defend himself against all the mischaracterisations made by the US media which purportedly led more Americans to vote him out of office than voted Obama into office? My intuition tells me that both these men's futures are somehow connected.
Donald Trump is the gift that keeps on giving. The Great White Whale of the DC swamp. The Pied Piper of the talking heads. He manages to stay just one step ahead and they can't stop running after him.
If anyone halfway sane tried taking on this crowd, they would be Kennedyed, but he just has them running in circles.
Who says there is no Karma!
Julian has been totally screwed over, but history is not going to treat him like it will the vermin that put him there.
Free Julian!
Amen!

Yes, but doesn't POTUS need to be born on US territory? Or did the precedent set by Obama override that requirement?
